Let the quiet of the Davis Mountains envelope you. From your cabin's private porch, away from television, traffic, and distractions, listen to the sounds of nature: A cactus wren's call, a hummingbird's beating wings or the rustle of rangeland grasses in the breeze.

Mountain Trails Lodge lies on 10 serene acres overlooking the historic town of Fort Davis and Sleeping Lion Mountain. Cabins feature two double beds, kitchenette, climate control, & private bath. Learn more about our cabins, dining room and conference facilities…

Far West Texas Birding/Wildlife Trail Map

Picture

Mountain Trails Lodge (formerly Davis Mountains Education Center) is a featured bird and wildlife viewing site on the Davis Mountains Loop of the recently unveiled Far West Texas Wildlife Trail Map. The map is the result of a cooperative effort between Texas Parks and Wildlife, the Texas Mountain Trail region, and neighboring Texas Pecos Trail region.

Maps are available to purchase at Mountain Trails Lodge!

Please Pardon Our Transition!

It is an exciting time at the new Mountain Trails Lodge & Outdoor Learning Center as we undergo a face lift!

Since 1989, the center has organized and led popular outdoor education programs for groups of school children and Elderhostel participants. Originally the Prude Ranch Environmental Education Center, the center over time transitioned to Davis Mountains Environmental Education Center and most recently Davis Mountains Education Center.

We felt it was the right time to create an image for the center that reflects the diversity of all we have to offer - not limited to only the high-quality outdoor education programs the center is known for, but adding the potential for groups and families to enjoy the peaceful, kid-friendly property and experience the bird and wildlife populations we nurture here at the center.

Besides replacing Davis Mountains Education Center with the new name and imagery, we will be giving the property a facelift too! Look for improvements in the outdoor kitchen and grilling area and other enhancements that will make your stay or your outdoor learning experience even better!
